Roosevelt National Park and Medora Musical part 2

I am going to add more pics here and try to post it.  Part 1 will not take the link to FB

There were some beautiful sights in Roosevelt.  These are the animals that we saw while we were there.

Roosevelt Park and Medora Misical

A picture is worth a thousand words (someone said that once...)

This section has caused me a lot of problems.  I cannot load all the pictures that I wanted to do.  We drove through the park on Saturday with the camera  The ranger recognized us from the day before and just waved us through.  We didn't even have to show him our pass again.  These are just some of the pictures we took.

Roosevelt National Park and Beyond

This is what we saw first thing this morning.  It promised to be a beautiful day and it was.  We were up at about 6:00.  Joe had breakfast and then he did up the dishes while I got myself ready to get back on the road again.

Am I boring  you yet?  If I weren't taking the pictures I would have been sleeping!  This is the scenery was what we saw for most of the trip across North Dakota.  The only change was some ponds and sometimes a curve in the road.

This was a "scenic" overlook.  It was a pull-off to look at the lake.  We stopped so I could take a picture.

If you can see Joe, he is waiting "patiently" for me.  I'm so glad he loves me.

Here I am doing my "job".  Watching the road and keeping track of where we are on the Atlas.  I have to keep Joe on track.  My co-pilot seat is a little cushier than Joe's - I have a foot rest so my feet are up.  Oh such luxury!!

Of course we have to fuel up each day so we can "dry dock" at night.  That means we are self contained and need the generator.  If there is not enough fuel the generator will not work because we would need the fuel to get to the next station to fill up.  So, there he is getting us fuel.  He's a good guy!

When we got off the exit for Medora we found this.  Well actually we found the entrance to part of the park.  This is called the Painted Canyon.  This buffalo was resting on the median strip as you drive in to the parking area.  He stayed there all the time we visited the canyon - maybe half an hour.

This is what we saw at the Painted canyon.  The colors were beautiful. The scenery was just beautiful.

Mall of America

This is  what I see as we are riding down the road.  I took this picture this morning after we got on the road.  This is a very common site,

Here is luxury driving.  How's that for driving down the road?  Joe drives almost all day long so he needs comfort.  The seat is adjustable so he can raise it, lower it, and he can do just about anything to make himself comfortable. I am not going to ever drive a "bus".
It was rainy and foggy this morning.  The roads were a little wet.  We thought we were  going to have a lot of rain; but we slowly drove out of it.

We drove the rest of the way across Wisconsin and into Minnessota.  We rrealized that the Mall of America was here so we called Joe's brother-in-law to find out where it was.  Found out it was in Minneapolis.  Since we were past that we had to turn around and go back - which we did.

We found a huge parking area accross from the mall that was empty and thought it would be a good idea to stay overnight so we could spend more time there.  There was so much to see.  We tried to get permission but were refused.  Needless to say we spent half a day there and then went on our way.

Mall of America opened up in 1992.  I remember reading a piece about it and thought it would be a great place to visit.  I am so glad we made the effort.

The place has 4 levels to it.  All kinds of food imaginable and stores I never heard of.  they did not have J Jill but when I wentt walking around I found a sign that said they would be there in the fall of this year.  There is an amusement park in the center of the mall with rides galore.  We watched the ferris wheel go round and the merry-go-round with little babies. They were having a great time.  The ferris wheel is suspended in the air above the entrance to the play area.

Then there were the Legos.  Lots and lots of legos,  There were all kinds of "work" stations with containers of legos where the kids could put together anything they wanted to.  We just had a great time watching and walking through the mall.  All these pictures of characters are Legos.  They were so cool!

We finally got back on the road just before rush hour to head back west again.  We are now on Rt 94 (still) just before exit 67. We stopped and shut off the engine.  You know how after you have driven for a long time and you just stretch and get all the kinks out.  Well Joe was doing that and said that he was glad we were done for the night.  Well, I said that I agreed and I was the one doing all the stretching and twisting.  Joe just looks at me and I start laughing,  He was wondering why I was doing all the stretching when he was doing all the driving.  (it was funny in the processz).

We are in for the night.

Sorry for the screw-ups, I am still getting the hang of this.

Day 2

Today is Sept. 4th - Day 2 of our trip.  We left Oil City at about 6:00 this morning.  There was a discussion as to the benefits of going Rt 8 through Franklin or heading back towards Shippenville and getting onto Rt 80 at Knox.  Joe did not like the idea of driving the motor home through Franklin so Knox won out.

We drove the rest of the way across PA, into Ohio, then Indiana, Illinois and now we are in Wisconsin.  We are on Rt. 94 at a rest area just past  exit 79 for those who would like to keep track of where we are. We pretty much ran into showers then sun then showers then sun again.  It was sunny till we got ready to stop then it started to rain.

We listened to the rest of David Baldacci's book "Devil's Corner" the fifth book of the Camel Club.  Good book we both enjoyed it.

The day was pretty much driving.  We stopped for fuel once and stopped at a Denny's for supper.

It is raining now with lightning an thunder.  Good sleeping weather (I think).

Pre trip

This is our last day in Oil City PA.

I walked with my mom this morning for the last time.Packed up all our clothes and moved back to the motor home and put everything away. I vacuumed and made some chicken salad for lunches. I shopped for food for the trip.

We will be spending the night in the motor home and then heading out in the morning.

My goal for this blog is to write something every day.  I do not know how this will work out since I haven't done any writing since high school.  That was a very very long time ago.  We shall see...
